what we have today

Here's what we have now.
Front, and right wall, with window

This is what was behind the wall, with the door.

Basement Renovation time!

Before we pulled the carpet up-bottom of stairs
Seems to never end. We decided with the interest rates so low, now was the best time to pull some equity out of the house, and pay off everything. Oh yeah, and update our basement.

Back wall
The basement was really never a great place to hang out. Sorta cold, and I always felt as though I was gonna fall down the stairs! They were very steep. The lack of a bathroom made it all the less appealing, having to go up 2 flights of steps when nature called.

Utility area. Toilet in the room to the right

Slop sink

Crappy little windows

So, for a refresher, here's what we had. Well, sorry. We had already started dismantling before we took pictures, but you get the point.

spring has sprung

Well, the fruits of our labors are ours to enjoy, now that spring is here. We did have some snow damage, but not too bad. For the record, we had 18" of snow in December, and then in February, we got two back to back storms, with over 24" of snow. It was nuts, but I do love a good snow storm.

Start of the snow in December.

A few hours later...

Early morning after a night of snow.

That was December's snow. As impressive as it was...it was the lesser storm! February brought more snow, in two back to back storms. As you can see, it was crazy!

Fun digging that out!

Took a week for me to be able to get to the edge of the pond to check on it.

We lost a couple of branches on the maple, and lost one shrub, and had to tie up a couple of trees, but for the most part, we weathered the storms pretty well.

So, this spring we have found another project believe it or not. We ripped out all the ivy in the front yard. Here is an after photo. Maybe we just don't know how to relax and enjoy? ; )

No more ivy!

done!

It's done. Complete. Finished. The pond is up and running, and we even already have some fish. OK, they are little fish, and they are even more dwarfed by the size of the pond. But hey, it's done! We will still be adding some plantings around it, but the construction is done! YAY! here are some shots of the completed yard.
